Default replacing all instrument cluster lights, where is the thin tiny bulbs at?

Ok so since i am having the popular no dash lights problem, I am going through and replacing all the bulbs. I have replaced all he 154? bulbs (the ones that go into a base and twist into the back), but i also got the tiny little very thin bulbs (i think they were 53 or 54 bulbs) since the book called for them as well. Where do they go? I wan to get them in today as well as the new headlight switch, as all the fuses under the dash and under the hood were good. So hopefully all the stuff i am doing will cure the problem. Please help, thank you.

Can't tell you until you fess up what kind of Jeep you have. Different dashes for different years.

My crystal ball says you have a Jeep, but after that it is unclear.

Up to mid 90's, *194 bulb. Newer stuff? Hard telling. The socket may be part of the bulb.

The little bulbs light up the little idiot lights like the check engine, ABS, washer fluid, transfer case mode, and so on. On my '88, they are on the left side of gauge cluster. I am not familiar with the 95's dash, but it is probably similar.

So the ones on the left go in the idiot lights, and back of the gauge cluster. The right one is the one I am trying to figure out, and I stand corrected it's a 74 bulb

Nevermind I figured it out. I realized which ones you were talking about.... Duuuh

On a side note I saw how some of you were talking in other threads about upgrading the headlight harness. Anyone care to elaborate?

Another side question. There is this one harness not plugged into anything... Anyone recognize what it could be for?

The stock wiring for the headlights routes power from the battery to the fuse box to the headlight switch and then to the headlights through a wire that is too light for the task. The lights need more current than the stock wiring is prepared to handle and this results in heat at some of the resistance points in the system, primarily in the headlight switch. As the car gets older, the wiring slowly corrodes and the connections increase in resistance, making more heat and sending less power to the lights.

The relay harness bypasses that high current straight from the battery, through the relay and directly to the lights, which are also much closer to battery. With the harness in there, the headlight switch only needs to move a tiny bit of current to activate the relays, which relieves a ton of pressure on the switch.

The result is much improved brightness from the same H4 bulbs and a safer system.
