So in everyones opinion, is is just as good to use the t-fitting as installing a newer radiator? I have to buy a new rad soon and found a good price on one for my 90 but it is the oder style.

It would add a cap and has a provision for an overflow bottle, so I am thinking its just as good? So i guess another question would be, is it better to just use a newer radiator or the t-fitting idea, and why?

this up grade is for installing a new radiator with a radiator cap on it the reason i did mine this way it was cheaper than buying the 89 radiator and the t fitting in the top hose call and see which is cheaper in your area

Its a major PITA to find these "T's" in the Milwaukee area.

I called Advance, Auto Zone, Checker/O'Reily and none had them.

Finally got ahold of one from my local Napa. According to them they keep it in stock here for all the "race car" guys. I'm not sure if all of them stock the T's, but mine told me they could order other sizes as well, so I'm guessing any NAPA should be able to order them.

The 1 1/2" diameter one goes for something like $35, but I think our upper hoses are 1 1/4" instead.

Ok so I am still trying to figure this out, I have an 88 with the closed system. I am getting ready to purchase a new radiator, so if I buy a radiator FOR an 88, install this T fitting, add an overflow tank and routed the line from the T to the overflow tank, is that all I have to do? Could I then pitch the expansion bottle?

Ok one more question. If you do this t-fitting setup, what do you use for a return line from the overflow tank back to the cooling system?

I was sittin in Carls Junior drive thru today when i could see my temp rising. Then i saw the reflection of my jeep in the window and saw a puddle forming under it. Yeah, the whold damn cap blew off the pressure bottle. That's when i decided i'm done with it. so my next mod will be switching to this system. If i have any questions that i can't find here, I'll hit this up!

Thanks for the help, btw with the write up!

i eliminated the heater control valve plumed straight to core if you core leake just loop the hoses to each other no issue by passing valve
