ok... so I was looking in the engine bay the other day and found out that the engine in my jeep is a renix. The PO said he had done an engine swap so I knew it would be different. No big deal. Here is my question though, with having the renix engine, cam, and all that, will that screw with the OBD II computer?
The jeep runs great, no check engine lights or anything, just want to be prepared for any future problems.
Thanks for any help.

How did you find out it was a renix? After I cleaned the grease from mine I noticed some letters painted on the block but they are to faded to read them? I'm now concerned if its original or it ever was swapped, do you know where I can look to see if the engine matches the body?

This site has the block and head numbers on it listed and the dates they belong to.
My block matches the number for a 1987-90

Mine is a 1996 do you think the differences in the cam (single patter vs. dual patter) mean anything to the ECM ? Like I said, it runs strong, just want to be prepared for anything in the future.

Hell no. HO stands for nothing more than Highly Overrated. They made a grand total of 8 more horsepower than the latest Renix, all due to a 58mm throttle body versus a 52mm on the Renix, and a better exhaust manifold. All the horsepower gain was in the higher RPM range and they made no more torque than a Renix.

...pretty much. especially since I always made it a point of getting a XJ with the HO lol... Then again, that's how I scored my green 96 redrock edition with the HO for $1500. I was picky and waited until I found one a good one.
