Default Rebuild trouble 94

The engine is in, I replaced the crank sensor and there is plenty of spark. The engine turns over and crank it just won't start! We set the timing by the book haven't tried fuel pressure yet. Any thing will help.

Compression, spark and fuel are all needed. Next logical step would be to verify that fuel is getting in. Fuel pressure readings required now. Could still be an electrical issue so check all connections and grounds again. ECU needs to have power so check fuses too.

I would bet $1000 the dizzy is in 180* out.

Setting Your 4.0 at #1 TDC

With #1 spark plug removed, turn the engine over clockwise using the 3/4" front crankshaft bolt. You will see the degree marks on your front cover. Mark the 0 with chalk or white-out.You will see the timing mark on the balancer. Mark it with chalk or white-out. While turning the engine over, put your finger/thumb over #1 spark plug hole. As the mark on the balancer approaches the marks on the front cover, if you are coming up on #1 TDC, pressure in the cylinder will push on your finger. If there's no pressure, you're at #6 TDC and need to crank the engine over until you see the marks coming together and you get pressure. Set the mark on the balancer to the 0 mark on the front cover.

I also vote for a distributor problem. When everything is lined up the rotor will point just past #1 spark plug. I know that sounds kind of weird, but the computer advances the timing and it all works out.

Make sure you're at #1 TDC, not #6 or something else, using the info I provided, before chasing your tail any more.

That all checks out. Is it possible to have gotten the wrong fly wheel? That's what my biddy said.

Heck no. He can't shake hands from here. LOL.

Maybe I'm wrong but about 96.35% of the time on a new engine start-up, after the OP swears the dizzy is in correctly, and the thread reaches double digit posts, we come to find out it was the dizzy all along. Those are the odds I'm playing.
