87 steering column?
So anybody with correct knowledge feel free to correct me but from my experience I have found 87s to be split in half between amc and chrysler. My turds on the chrysler end of the year and my steering column does amazing things. I bought a steering column off of a fellow member not thinking about the split year nonsense, got home realized that the column is from the amc half of the year and am now curious as to how this is gonna go. Just wondering if anyone out there knows weather the amc one will swap right in or if im gonna have any issues?

Umm, to my knowledge until 91 (maybe mid-90) heeps used the AMC/GM-style based column. You can swap a later HO column in.
Does your current column use a single side GM style key or Chryco one? If it uses a double side chryco, then someone must have swapped a newer one in at some point. All the renix I have seen/owned have the GM style column, pretty sure that the HO column is still based on the same setup but different key/maybe ign switch?

Well yea I knew it wasnt an actual chrysler column. Sorry to be unclear and/or wrong. Like I said I have just observed that there are some 87s out there with more amc parts than I guess ill call it... 'chrysler's gm parts bin' parts. The column is definitely the standard gm column but the ignition is amc on one and gm on the other. Thats all ive noticed so far. I was most worried about all the harness connections but if metmknice is right about the high output model columns then im gonna guess the connections never changed?

Actually, it wasn't until 89 or 90 that any Chrysler parts started showing up. Chrysler had to honor AMC/Jeep's commitment to it's suppliers for a few years.
