Was poking around under the jeep today (beating on crap with a hammer more like it) trying to find lose stuff lol.
Had the rear lifted up
Is it normal for the rear wheels to have the slightest movement in and out? Like if you grabbed the center of the wheel and pulled out and pushed in they move about 1/8 inch.
Just wondering lol, I don't remember if they used to do that.
Also something in the front is getting knocked around while driving going over bumps, you can hear and feel a thunking by feet at lower speeds on pavement hitting cracks. I cant find anything except I'm prolly due for a new TRE at the pitman arm and my upper control arms are still stock, uhg.
I'm thinking my steering box is just shot, which i know it is, but worse, its not lose from the body.
Lol ALSO, particularly when its cold its really noisy at the bell housing, like allot of clanging around metal noise. flywheel bolts or something? nothing visual can be seen.
Thanks guys!

so I found this
"non C clip Dana 35 came on the Cherokee from 1984 thru 1989"
that means mine is non c clip? any way to really tell? Besides taking diff cover off, which hell I should do anyway and paint it while I'm theyre.
I'm gonna order up a new steering box so if I need new rear bearings I'd like to get that done too.Trying to tighten the feel up.

I believe there should be a hole (on the axle shaft face) between the lug studs if it's a NON-c-clip axle. The hole is to remove the bearing retainer plate.
If there is no hole, you have C-clips.
I think.
