Hello im new in this forum and i have a question about tires and gears
Im thinking of getting 35 inch tires on my 98 xj its got stock gears c.8.25 rear on dana30 front i dont have the money to buy it all so im between buying gears first or the tires it is my daily driver but i only use it for work... work is like 5 minutes away from my house i dont wheel it often but i will when i regear im wondering how much will i last on 35s no gearing until i get the money .. Will i bust an axle shaft? Will my dana 30 brake? Like i said i cant afford gears and tires at the time ill have the money like in 2 months will i make it? Ive had a freind who wheeled it and broke a axle shaft im looking foward for 4.88 gears

Stock axles on 35s will be fine on the street but will feel like it has no power and harder on gas.Off road you'll break something over time could be the diff or stock axle shafts. How much of a lift do you have and do you still have the stock steering ?
I have a 6.5 lift on 32s like i said i just need to wait 2 months for the money i want to go tires firts because theres a special discount at discount tire for km2 35x12.50r15 each for 140 with free balancing life time thats i guess ill give it a try after all i have never used a heavy tire on my jeep . will i last the 2 month without braking? Work is 5 minutes away no highway or offroad use.. Thanks

Will you last 2 months w/out breaking things? There's no way to know the answer to that.
I'm simply looking at this from a purely human perspective:
As humans, especially young, testosterone-fueled, gear-headed ones, there's always the potential for temptation to push a machine beyond it capabilities.
Lol! User error. The only word in this rambling that should have been in bold is the word "temptation" the first time I used it.
Now I'm not saying you will do that, but, I'd encourage you to be brutally honest with yourself: Can you resist the temptation to push it before it's ready?
If it were me, I'd go directly to the manager of that store, explain the situation to him/her and see if they would be willing to give me a credit for those tires at that price at the time it's convenient for me (within reason). You may be surprised how willing and flexible a manager can be to earn and keep your business, especially if you're a good customer or have the potential to be. Trust me, it never hurts to ask and negotiate.
