Default Rear axle and driveshaft

I am new to working on cars, so cut me a break. What is the name of the part where my driveshaft (from transfer case) connects to my rear axle.

The reason is there is a snapped bolt within it and I cannot get out myself (trust me I tried) so I am going to replace it if possible.

Lemme know what u think.

there should be two metal straps holding the universal joint on the driveshaft to the pinion yoke coming out of the differential. There are 2 bolts in each strap. I believe you will have to do some complicated adjustments if you replace the yoke to get the pressure/tension right on the gears in your differential. I'm no expert so I'm sure a few guys will be way more specific or correct me if I'm wrong but that's the best of my knowledge on that part!

If it were me, I'd try like heck to drill out the piece of bolt and try an easy-out thingy, even going as far as chasing new threads if I had to drill as much as that out, just to avoid getting involved with my gears! If I remember, the bolts on my straps were pretty wimpy/soft metal compared to the yolk.

It's the drive line u joint (universal joint) the ears on the axle side is called the yoke. The little bolts that hold it to the axle are u joint strap bolts (small metal straps that wrap around the u joint caps). The large nut on the axle behind the u Joint/ inside the yoke is your pinion nut. If it broke your cheapest option is to just buy a new axle!

So it the part where the straps go around the u joint and one of the bolt for the straps broke off and that part is what I need to replace or fix

Pinion yoke or pinion flange....depending on who you talk to.

This is an upgrade to stock. Just have to know what axle you have.

Oh an easier and cheaper fix. This one you dont have to remove the yoke if your worried about that.
