Hey Cherokee peeps,
First, thanks to everyone for helping me out with my first question a week ago. I really appreciate the time, courtesy and experience you all seem to have in regards to Jeep topics.
That being said, I have another issue that isn't nearly as pressing as the last, but weird enough to have me seeking advice before I make an appointment with a repair shop or dealership.
Basically, for several years now, my '97 XJ Country's power windows have been acting up. I can control all four of them without issue from my driver's side master switches, but my passengers routinely cannot raise/lower their windows from their respective switches...unless it rains. During or after a shower, there will be a brief time when those riding with me can roll down/up their windows.
Has anyone ever had this problem or known of it occuring elsewhere? I assume it's a wiring issue but I was hoping you could weigh in and tell me what you think it is and what kind of repair shop I should seek out (assuming it is too difficult to locate and fix on my own).
Thanks again for your time,
J

^^ Whats that going to do? His windows are not stuck. This is a common problem with Cherokees, mine does this although I have not noticed the correlation with rain and them working.

I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with lubrication. If you read the original post it says he can always roll them down from the drivers side door controls but only after a rain, not sure why this is, he can roll them down from their respective controls on their doors. Mine does this too, without the rain part. Sometimes my passengers can roll down their windows from their doors but most of the time only I can from the drivers door. Its some sort of short in the wiring.

Do you think that some exploratory surgery is in order? I found another thread that was very similar to this issue and it seemed to either be an issue with the panel or the wiring/switch inside. I'd hate to take it to a shop or dealership and pay out the dog blossom for something that could be a relatively easy fix.
I would be interested in finding a fix for this as well. I dont own a XJ...yet, working on it but I've driven 3 over the last week and on 2 of them the windows only worked from the drivers controls so I just assumed it was a common issue.
