bad windows
So my jeep has power windows all around. the problem is that none of the passenger windows can be controlled by their door controls, only the driver door with controls to all the windows can make the passenger windows move. So i know its not window motor problems, cuz the driver can still make them go up and down. and the weird thing is that if a passenger is pushing their window switch up, and im pushing down on the driver door, the window wont move. Same if im pushing down, and they are pushing up. So they have some control over it, just not all. Anyone else have a similar problem, or know what is wrong? thanks

I had the same power window problem on my 2000 XJ. Power window switches worked from driver seat but not from any of the passenger seats. I had a bad window lock switch. I bypassed the switch by shorting two adjacent yellow and tan leads on a connector located inside a driver side kick-panel with a paper clip. See two pictures below...
green arrow = the connector
yellow arrow = yellow lead
tan arrow = tan lead
red arrow = paper clip
Not shown in the pictures but I covered up the pin and connector with some electrical tape.
Now all window switches work fine, but of course the windows lock switch is inoperable. The switch is permanently closed (effectively with the paper clip) so all window switches work at all time. My kids are grown so no need for a lockout.

I just grabbed this from XJ2000 from another post I saw hoping it would help you.I'm not sure but it wont hurt to pull it off, if need be ,after you put in the clip have them hook it up, And if you have a problem have them unhook it. You could pm XJ2000 so you would know for sure. Good luck

the wire tap I used allowed both wires to run all the way through, I installed it on the same two wires and this is what I ended up with, cleaner looking, imo, and also safer.
Again I did get the idea from this thread though, so props to xj2000 for the idea.

I got the tap at the hardware store, I was in there for something else and thought of it.. it was less than a dollar, the metal tab in the first photo pushes down, and connects the two wires together creating a sort of bridge between the two. to use it all you do is slide it over both wires, then use a pair of pliers to push the metal tab down flush with the plastic, and close the flap over.
Safety note: while the tap is completely safe after installed if you were to have power running to the wires while pushing the metal tab and happen to touch the pliers to a ground, you WILL cause a short. Disconnecting the battery isn't necessary but I would at the minimum recommend you do this without the key in the ignition.
