Sounds like the timing is off, or you might have a spark plug wire mixed-up...also check all the fuel injector connections as you might have a broken wire...???

I replaced my engine with a stroked and bored out engine and I hooked everything up correctly! What mine turned out to be was that the knock sensor came loose, TPS was out of adjustment and the exhaust melted the plug on the o2 sensor making it too rich and backfire through the intake. mine would idle perfectly fine but as soon as I put any throttle to it itd back fire through the intake. check all your sensors.

Double check the firing order and base timing.

^^^ This

your timing is off if it is backfiring out the intake. The timing is not adjustable on this engine, so something must have been installed incorrectly (most likely the distributor)

Even though the timing is not adjustable, you still have to get the base timing right in order for the engine to run. You can't just stab the distributor in the block and expect the engine to run.

Either distributor indexing OR a fuel imbalance (lean). Verify fuel pressure and look for an exhaust or vacuum leak.
