Default Pop rivet /JB Weld

Ok First let me apologize to Welders/Fabricators ...I like to think I have a few skill sets , but welding is not one of them.. I admire and respect real welders.....I don't think this project requires , welding, or me learning how to weld...??
I plan to Pop Rivet--JB Weld this piece in place...?? Anyhow, I'm open to all opinions and criticism....
BTW this is the area behind the back seat where the Jack is stored...

Can't comment on whether you can get away with glue or rivets but guys have talked about body panel glues in the past. Believe it is something like this.

Amazon Amazon

If you can just glue it in maybe this would be a better way. I am sure that others will chime in with better answers.

new law here says you can't pop rivet panel patches anymore. must be welded in or bonded.
that 3m panel bonding agent is a good choice.

you may have different laws where you live, but inspectors here won't pass it if they see it.

Many folks use this technique and it works reasonably well. I love adhesives, but I don't think I would use JB weld for that application (don't get me wrong, cuz I love me some JB weld). Go get 3M panel adhesive, it is designed for that application. I have found that JB when used as a bond between 2 flexing substrates has a way of separating from one of the surfaces over time. It probably isn't formulated for that much movement between the surfaces. It is also a little thinner than panel adhesive, which increases the chance of voids that will collect and trap moisture. The panel adhesive is a little more "doughy" and can really create a good barrier between and around the new panel.

There are some youtube videos regarding the process as well.

What he said. JB and I are good friends, but this just isn't his kind of gig.

What's the panel for?

Thumbs up Floor Panel repair

Thank you all for replies , I have my JB Weld at hand, but I will put that aside for now..( Im sure I will find other uses )
I have ordered a 3M panel weld kit, and I will have that within a week. A bit expensive...but cheaper than renting and learning to weld...
My POR15 kit arrived today. I will use that on some smaller holes up front this weekend....
Thanks again...I sure appreciate this forum....

The 3M autobody adhesive works great.I use it often though it can be expensive. Use a heat gun to get it to setup faster. You could use screws to hold the patch in place then cover with the adhesive when done.
