hello guys & ladies, i patched my floorpan with a 18 x 5 peice of sheet metal. Angle grinded the 2 floorpan rails between my frame rails and my rockers. It wasnt quite flush at all. when riveted the rivets stuck out a bit exposing more of a gap. I RTVed to the best of my ability only one coating though and spread it a bit uneven, spreading it with the spatula at every bead i made.

My plan was to take out my seat and carpet, unlike the way i did it before.... and RTV as much as i can inbetween the old floorpan and the sleezy pop riveted metal (that is rubberized because i sprayed the side facing the floorpan) & then spray a small lining off ''Good Stuff'' yellow foam sealent around the existing edges under my carpet, let it dry , and lay back down the carpet.

It sounds like a good idea to me, with my 2 slighty stoopid questions, let me know... any help is greatly appreciated.

1.) Should I apply a second coat?? Id' Imagine.

2.) With RTV Sealent And 3mm rubberized Underocating fill the gap i have??

 

YEa man I have the same problem. I just found the hole today and will be fixing it this weekend. My idea is to grind to bare metal, silicone around the hole, place a piece of sheet metal over the hole, pop rivit the sheet to the floor, silicone it and then POR 15 the entire floor to seal and prevent further rusting.. Anyway let me know how yours works out and ill do the same.
