Can I rivet it???
Hello everybody I had a question in regards to my roof rust i have. Once I sand and hammer all my rust away... can i get a 16 gauge sheet and rivet it in place? Can 16 gauge steel be riveted to begin with? I have no welder or welding skills. Was thinking maybe after prep and getting the sheet that i would just take the jeep to an exhaust shop and ask them just to weld the sheet in but I don't know.

I don't know if I would rivet a sheet on the roof panel. It could be pretty tough to waterproof it and if its not sealed moisture will get in and spread the rust even more. I would definitely try to get it welded on.

Yes they make panel adhesive which is as strong as a weld,Bondo is not a hole filler it will pop loose over time.Use metal 2 metal its like bondo but has metal in it and cures hard as a rock.

See if you have a local auto body supply or even napa has it sometimes. Some use a special gun some you can use a standard caulking gun.follow the instructions and take your time because once its on its on for good.On the outside piece use seam sealer around the edges and it will be water tight for a good 10 years plus.
