Just got my XJ.
First time jeep owner, so far i love it.
So i was poking around today checking suspension parts/bushings and what not and i came across a fluid leak in the front pass. axle area.
Can someone brief in on what the hell is it, and how to fix.
Also how the hell do you take off this part to replace lower ball joint?
And THANX AGAIN TO THIS WONDERFUL FORUM AND ALL YOU GREAT JEEP OWNERS.

looks like u got a lil water in ur front axle or was over filled lol and u got the pull the wheel bearing with 13mm 12point socket 3 of them and best tool to get them of is a air chisel if u dont have that a hammer and chisel punch will work just takes longer and the pull the knuckle off

I don't know what Krew was talking about removing your wheel hubs/knuckles with an air chisel, or how this helps to asses the situation, but unless that fluid came from somewhere else and just pooled down there, it definitely looks to be the axle seal at fault, like Xj88 said.. Check the other side in, even if you don't see a leak, it would probably be worthwhile to replace both seals at the same time.

Ok, so after a little research, checkin the manual, watching youtube videos, and calling the dealership. All i find is the INNER axle seal replacment. So is there a OUTER seal that can be replaced.??
