Assuming power is getting to the radio, make real sure you have a real good ground.

Tell me about it freegdr, but I'm glad to be working! I'm checking out the wiring. I thought I was supposed to match, color for color...guess not.

Did you see or smell anything burning, or smoke, when you first plugged everything in to power?

My Metra harness matched color for color to my Pioneer headunit breakout cable.

Does the head unit not even power on? I assume so if you only mention "no sound".

If you use this wiring guide, and you are still getting no sound (after making sure that you soldered the connection properly), I would start by testing the head unit and wiring it directly to a speaker (meaning avoiding the stock wiring). The original speaker wire is hilariously tiny so if it turns out to be the issue, you can just run new speaker wire.

What's that a picture of? And why is there a bundle of wires not connected to anything? Also you should be wiring the hu harness to a metra or scosche converter harness which plugs into the factory harness.

Ok, this project is on hold until tomorrow so please don't go away. My 19 year old is managing this, since it will be his car soon and he's ordered a part from eBay, should be here today-head unit adapter because he thinks he cut the wires too low. We don't have a working wire cutter so he's been using scissors.

Also, he seems to think the wires need to match color for color but I told him that the diagrams that you posted were accurate. Should this be so complicated?

No burning smells. The instructions say color for color but that wasn't working.
