Please help jeep died at work stranded!!
I was sitting on my break in my 1999 JEEP XJ 4.0 having a smoke with it running for some heat, brrr its cold. It was on low fuel (like usual). All of the sudden it dies. I have power and the engine turns over strong. I put a gallon of gas. Still will just turn over. Check fuel pressure its good, and I can hear the pump. I did a tune up about 12k miles ago, new plugs, wires, cap, coil. I ahve heard it maybe the CPS but im not sure where its located on my vehicle. Can someone give me some advice Please???

yup! sounds like a CPS...happened to me 2 weeks ago on the side of a highway. took about an hour to fix. Half hour to get the part and half hour to replace. you will need a long socket extension and a flex joint to reach the 2 bolts that holds the CPS in place from under the truck.

I had my accel coil go bad maybe a year and a half after I put it in....I thought same thing that it had to be the CPS cause everything was new....replaced cps and still same problem....I had my stock coil still and swaped it in and it fired right up.....That was the second accel coil(two different vechicles) that I have had issues with.

Would be helpful to perform a quick spark test. Remove a plug, keep it attached to the plug wire, place the plug electrode near a good ground, have a buddy crank the engine while you watch. You are looking for a strong, BLUE, snapping spark. Yellow/orange/white indicates a weak spark which may not be strong enough to start the engine.
I'm not a fan of Accel coils as far as their "longevity" goes. OEM coil is really all the 4.0 engine needs for the majority of applicationis. Test your coil for primary and secondary resistances with a meter and a manual.
