Default Pictures of vinyl flooring?

My carpet is used, abused, stained, sticky, stinky, etc. I know many just rip it out and texture coat it with bed liner etc, but I don't want to go down that path. I know the vinyl kit is available and was wondering if anyone here has it and do they like it? Also, any picstures if you do have it?

You could do both. In fact I'm willing to bet you'll have some rust remediation once you pull the carpet anyway. Bed liner would provide a little noise damping versus just painting. It' still going to be louder either way without carpet. I used the cheap habor freight bedliner, which I think is identical to the duplicolor stuff. Definitely noisier without the carpet, even after fixing the holes in the floorboard.

I'll consider both and I might do that. One issue I've read is the vinyl is a real pain to heat and form so it looks good, which might make me rethink to not get the vinyl. Already looked under carpet and underneath and I'm one lucky guy. Found 2 spots in the back with minimal surface rust, everything us solid.

Good news on the minimal rust. I wonder if vinyl versus carpet would trap moisture underneath? My Comanche, I just bed-lined and use a couple of decent floor mats.

The vinyl will trap moisture... No doubt about that... You'd definitely want to seal off the floor before adding the vinyl...

I took my carpet out recently for the first time.. sticky, stanky, abused.. rust stained, it's had just about every animal you'd hunt in N. America and Germany in the back, & still had some koolaid stains under the seat from when my son was like 14, he's 35 now... I sprayed them down with stain remover and power washed them.. then left them out in the sun to dry. Didn't turn out too bad. I wasn't lucky on the rust....

This doesn't help but if you got real lucky maybe you could find the rubber floor out of a Police Version XJ.
But finding one in decent shape at a reasonable price would be difficult.
Here are some shots of one.

I found just this part of one on Craigslist a long time ago for $50. Not local and contacted the guy but never got a response.
Thing to notice in this one is how it conforms to the risers. My understanding is that XJ that have air bags have those metal risers in the floor.
These shots were from an Ebay listing where I think the guy wanted $400 shipped for it.
I saved these shots cause I am guessing it is complete and shows all the other pieces that go with it.

I get the feeling this is from an XJ without air bags. I can't really make out if the part that would go over the risers is there.
Or if it is just flat for the entire front floor pan.
I think both '95 and '96 came with air bags but if those years and '97 and up would fit each other is unknown.

Wow, thanks for the info and pictures, etc. I may do a hybrid floor covering. I think I'll start be cleaning or attempt to clean the front carpets and see how they turn out. The rear can't be saved, so I'm considering a vinyl rear area including the back of the rear seat, all in a tan vinyl, or I might do a spray on liner, or a combo of both. It looks like I'll just take out the entire interior in a couple months once the garage is clear of a car I'm selling. Needs headliner, flooring, general cleanup anyway. Also, once the headliner is removed I can access the hole in the roof where the old antenna was and I can install a new antenna and run coax to CB I plan on installing. Ex forest service XJ so had radio mounted originally, and I'll try to mount new CB in old location where holes already exsist. Since I have a long list of things I plan on doing I might start a refurbish/upgrade/mod thread once I get started on project Smokey.

No problem.
I have this bad idea, one of many I might add (LOL), about putting a rubber floor in my '00.
Why I saved all those pictures to my computer.
But I want to put the carpet back in on top of it.
I have done some sound deadening in other areas of the Jeep.
One day I will get to doing the floor too.
I was thinking the rubber floor might be an alternative.
Assuming the carpet will sit properly on top of it.
And for me to try this would have to find one pretty cheap.
In case it doesn't work no great loss.
I saw the picture in your profile and thought that does look like a Forrest Service color.
But you did not mention it at first, unless I just missed it (LOL), and said it had a carpet so.....
Cause while not a Police Version I always assume that a Forrest Service XJ would have a rubber floor too.

I was able to get the build sheet for it, and the Forest Service for this one at least, was ordered with carpet. I have seen a couple other Forest Service XJ's over the years, but to be honest I don't remember if they had vinyl or carpet.
