Could any one direct me to the right pcv valve and grommet for an 88 Cherokee 4.0? It seems everytime I look it up it's something different and the parts stores are no help at all. Thanks for any advice
As far as I've ever seen, at least on my '89, '94, and '98 Cherokees w/4.0L engines, there is no traditional PCV valve. There's only the orifice in the valve cover that needs to be cleaned once in awhile, along with inspecting the corresponding breather hoses. Pretty sure all of the 4.0L engines are the same configuration. If I'm mistaken, my apologies and please let me know!

Its not a PCV system its actually a CCV system; they are slightly different.
There are two grommet types... One is a pass through which I believe is on the front and one that is not for the rear. Both should be available through Dorman on RA.
The front elbow is not not restricted and will have a large hole on the bottom and the rear is restricted.
That's exactly right. The CCV is a fixed orifice that the PCM sensor compensates for by comparing the MAP sensor readings compared with TPS data. When deposits in the orifice build up and restrict airflow, The PCM can't change the mixture enough to keep the engine smooth. Keeping that orifice clean is important and most people don't realize it. It can be cleaned without removing it if you do it one in a while by removing the hose, spraying some throttle body cleaner into it, followed by a blast or air. That way you don't destroy the grommet trying to get it out.
I found this in the info in my signature link, might help >
Renix Vacuum Harnesses/CCV stuff.
The vacuum harness that attaches to the front of the valve cover and includes the grommet/fitting is Napa part number BK 715-1367 The vacuum harness that is closest to the air cleaner, EGR etc, and is called the rear harness, is Napa part number BK-715-1366. The tube from the rear of the valve cover to the intake manifold is part number 715-1365.
The grommet alone for the rear is a 42088 Dorman

I ordered mine from Advance three times. Kept getting the restricted one for the rear. So on the third one, I grabbed a Dremel and opened her up my self, worked just fine. I also replaced the grommets.
Thank you all for the help. This has been my first time in jeep territory, and the inline 6 is kinda new to me. The part that was in it I knew didn't seem right. So I really appreciate the help. This is what was in it when I got it. This is what was in the Jeep when I got it
