Great write up. One quick question, did you put any kind of filter on the part your built or just use the stock one inside the air box?

I use the stock air filter. It works fine.

 

Cool. Thanks. I need to get a drill and the hole bit and of course the parts. Looks like a fun project that I can work on over time and not have to take my Jeep out of daily service to do.

 

Yup. I did mine over a span of two days. Drove it to work without the snorkel cap and prayed it didn't rain and it didn't. I had a leaf and a big bee stuck on the filter the next day though.....

 

I really like this, and Im gonna "borrow" your idea on it.. Did some river crossings the other day and realized a need for a snorkel

 

Couldn't you just run the hose from the throttle body to the hole in the front of the air box, and run the dryer hose from the snorkel cap to the lid of the airbox? it would be a reverse airbox but it would save from cutting the airbox.
