Open vacuum line

Default Open vacuum line

Just bought this 2001 cherokee need some major front end repair once I got it running I notice this open vacuum line behind the passenger side front bumper what should be there

It's called a Vacuum Reservoir. You'll need that for Cruise Control and your AC/Heat system. Junk yard will probably be your only source. See pics of the reservoir and the vacuum system.

From Factory Service Manuals. I added a few things to the engine bay vacuum diagram that you won't find in a FSM. And I added "Inner Fender Liner" to the bottom pic of the reservoir.

I pulled my off and plugged the line so it would seal. Everything still works on my 2001 so I'm not sure if you really have to have it.

Wait til you're going uphill some time needing the heater.

Or using cruise control under a load.
