I'm gonna be doing a tune up on my 95 xj with 217k on it sometime this week. What brand of oil would you recommend with the mileage and stuff?

More important than the oil is the frequency of changes and using a good quality oil filter. Read this:

I'm probably gonna get told that I'm a jerk for this, but I couldn't help myself.

Pretty funny actually.

To the OP, I use Rotella 15-40 diesel oil and a Wix, Napa Gold, or Mopar filter.

Oil and Mopar filter can be purchased at WalMart.

^this x2^

Honestly, use a good filter and your oil of choice and chances are you aren't going to have any problems.

Yep. And if you have a lifter tick, substitute one quart of Marvel Mystery Oil for a quart of oil for about 1,500 miles. Change it and do the same all over again. Done it on two of mine with lifter tick and it's gone now.

Would you recommend this for an XJ with less miles as well? Say less than 150,000?

Less than 150K depends. Do you have Money to spend or have to trim the fat like the rest of us. I use what is now on sale for 19.99 with filter.

Rotella 15/40 and a Bosch filter.

But I may go to a lighter weight oil since I moved down here to Georgia/Alabama.
