Hey dude I don't care if you didn't search. I was making the comments because this is one on those never answered questions. Asking what oil to buy is like asking for the winning lottery numbers. Everyone gonna give you a different answer and their reason for using it.
These oil threads are often comical actually.
Ask away man, Thats what the forum is here for. And good luck on finding the best oil.

I use Diesel oil in mine. When I say Diesel oil I mean oil formulated for high mileage, high heat high everything tractor trailer engines. These oils still use detergents that others don't as well. Can't hurt to keep the inside clean.
The 15/40 will move a little slow on start up when it gets cold. I don't use it in the winter because I HATE seeing my oil light come on because pressure builds so slow.
Rotella is widely used in motorcycles as well. Like my own Harley. It's just a good dang oil.
Stay way from Fram filters, they are the devil.

I have always heard about some flat tappet engine stuff. Anyway. 15/40 has been reccomended by people who have Jeepd the 4.0 for longer than I have so I just shut-up and listen.

Diesel has higher detergents, is made for turbocharged engines etc etc. I've been using it since about 2001. People go nuts over the weights etc. We used 15/40 in the 4.0s when new at the dealership.
These aren't BMWs, Porsches, Mercedes, Lexus or Infiniti vehicles with HLAs, overhead cams, roller lifters. They're good old basic engines.

I have another question. If heard about running some ATF fluid in there right before the oil change to clean out the crankcase. Is that safe to do with 217k on the engine?
