Default Oil pressure sensor replace still no pressure

I recently changed out the oil pressure sensor on my 2000 Cherokee 4.0 and the oil pressure gauge still reads no pressure. Any suggestions

Start simple, make sure that the galley is not plugged up with crud. Hook up an mechanical gauge and make sure that there is actually oil pressure. I'm making he assumption that your Jeep is running fine and you just want to see the gauge work.

Simple matter. Loosen the filter and see if it leaks. This just happened on my brand new (rebuilt) motor and it was the oil pump drive shaft ears had broken off! Not the cam sensor drive tang! Now I'm trying to get Melling to pay for the engine repairs! (bearings toasted)

Absolutely nothing reads on the gauge?

Agree with jpz.

1. Jam a pipe cleaner into the galleys where the pressure sensor resides to be sure that there is no obstruction. Rare, but happens.

2. Get a "mechanical oil pressure gauge" (can be rented inexpensively from many parts stores....call around) and VERIFY what your true oil pressure is. Then you'll know.

3. If you have good oil pressure with the mechanical gauge, then you know the problem is either a faulty replacement sensor (yes, you can have a DOA part, even with brand names), a wiring issue, or the gauge itself is faulty.
