Xj guys- 96 2 dr 4litre 5 speed Just finished an engine swap and my oil pressure gauge isn't reading properly. Reading over maxed out. Replaced the sending unit with 2 brand new sensors and still reading maxed when engine is on and off and when sensor is plugged in or not. Reading a solid 6.36 volts at the connector (single wire plug). Any thoughts on what to trouble shoot?
Just a thought. 96 is a change over year. You may need the other years sending unit. OBDI and OBDII are different sending units. Another thing is the gauge type sending unit is 2wire if I remember correctly. You said single wire?

The block was from a '98 that I swapped in and had the 2 wire connector. The harness in my '96 has the single wire so swapped in 2 new sending units with no luck with either of them

I'm reading open circuit from the sensor connector with the engine off. Which is why I'm guessing the gauge is reading over maxed constantly. What would cause an open circuit on a normally closed loop with the engine off?
