Oil pressure guage
Hey y'all. Just wondering if this is normal oil pressure reading at idle while engines hot. I haven't been having any engine problems at all and pressure rises as I accelerate, but just want to make sure that I don't have a problem lurking waiting to sneak up on me. Thanks in advance.. Jay

Many variable that affect oil pressure so if your looking for a fixed number I cannot give one. Bottom line is you have pressure so don't let that gauge give you gray hair. Years ago most cars did not have an oil pressure gauge and everyone was happy. In 2003 Jeep (and most other manufactures) went to a dummy gauge because they got tired of hearing questions from worried customers. Drive and enjoy your Jeep!

I think a general rule of thumb is 10 PSI per 1000 RPM. Not sure where I heard it tough. Mine is about that when warm and idling. Usually about 45 when driving.

Thanks guys. I figured it wasn't any concern. Just had to ask as I'm planning a camping trip in a couple months up in the white mountains, which is about 4.5 hours north of me and they're some steep mountains to climb on the highway and such. I'm doing my best to go through the engine bay with a fine tooth comb making sure she is ready for the journey.

Good info to know about oil pressure. Cooling is pretty good usually sits right under 210. I do plan on installing hood vents and put my upgraded injectors in before I leave. As well as a collant flush and new tstat. The brakes do need some loving, still contemplating if I should do the disc swap in the rear before I leave or wait till I get back. But either way it will get some new brakes.
