Default Oil Preasure Pegged

Why would my oil preasure be pegged on 80 wether it is or isnt running? It just pegged out on my way home today. Why would it? Is it going to hurt to drive it to autozone? It runs the same, it just pegs out the oil meter.

I have found when it is pegged it is the connection to the sending unit,if it is at 0 all the time it is the sending unit it self. Mine pegged and the wire at the sending unit broke,I just put another connector on it.

Sounds like your sending unit either gave up the ghost or you wiring is grounding out. If your wiring grounds out it will peg the gauge.

If you have an idiot light and a guage,The one on the filter housing will be for the guage, which is not the switch, the switch would be used for the idiot light.

call your local auto parts and ask them for an oil pressure sending switch with guage.
