Drain oil, take off the oil pan bolts, then hopefully it'll come off without much struggle (many people have had to droop the axle, remove starter, etc), clean it off, clean off mating surfaces, put on a new RUBBER one piece gasket, torque it to specs, take off old oil filter, put on new oil filter (not Fram), put on drain plug, fill with oil

If you read through this, you'll see what a hell of a time zombie_jeep101 had getting his oil pan off. This is pretty much the worst case scenario

Sure it's the oil pan?

I'd be looking up above first. A leak at the back of the valve cover could produce the same symptoms. Don't jump on the RMS/oil pan gasket bandwagon just yet.

Almost any oil leak on your 4.0 is gonna drip from the RMS area for 2 simple reasons. First off, the engine sits nose-up and oil will run back to that area. Secondly, the RMS area is also the lowest point on the engine. Simple physics and the old plumber's adage apply here. "$hit flows downhill".

Valve cover gasket, oil pressure sending unit, oil filter adapter seals and distributor gasket have to be eliminated as possibilities first.

Time for me to quit being lazy and pull the one off my parts truck.

I want to refurb it though, since I kinda have the time and chance. I thought about painting or bedlining, or bedlining THEN paintin over that for a cleaner look. But will it still fit and such?

If your Jeep doesnt have a lift, look forward to unbolting the shocks and swaybar to let the axle drop further
