If it is the rear main seal then it is very important that it be in place and undamaged. Post a pic.

The RMS on these isnt to bad to do yourself. If you have the pan completely off then the RMS is pretty easy being you dont have to seperate the trans from the motor to do it.

I have a 96 and mine has a split seal, not sure if all of them use this seal.

i doubt you saw the rear main seal and made it leak by simply changing the oil pan gasket. you have to remove the rear most bearing cap to even see it.

My guess is you are having trouble getting the back part of the oil pan gasket back in, it is a pain in the *** but take your time and you wil get it.

Use dental floss to tie the gasket to the pan through the little bolt holes. Do it to like every other bolt hole than when you put half of the bolts in pull out the floss

Good call.

Now that I think of it, you are probably correct. I completely forgot about removing that rear bearing cap... must have been a brain fart, I pictured the lower portion of the RMS on the oil pan.

But, if you still have the pan off it might be a good time to replace the RMS. My oil pan was a real pain to remove, definitely don't want to do it again if I don't have to.
