Default Oil gauge acting up?

Ok here's the deal, i noticed ohhh about a month or so ago that my oil gauge was beeing weird..it would read 0, and my check gauged light came on. then, it would go to 0, then when i hit the gas it goes up with the speedometer. So now, 1/3 of the time it stays at 0. 1/3 of the time it goes up only when my speed goes up, and 1/3 of the time it acts fine..whats going on here? sensor, guage or bad oil pressure?

Unfortunately that not enough info, what psi does it run and when driving down the road? Replace the sending unit, and see what happens, if it is under 40psi at driving down the road, your engine may be on its way out. Typical oil pressure is 10 to15 psi at hot idle, and 40 while driving.

You can verify your oil pressure with a "mechanical oil pressure gauge" if you want (they can be rented from many parts stores), but as this is a common failure and the sending unit isn't prohibitively expensive, many guys just replace them.

I recommend purchasing this from Jeep for best reliability/accuracy/mating with your factory gauge.

it usually varies, when it's acting normal my gauge reads just over 40-50 psi, when it's not working at all my gauge sits at 0 the whole time, and sometimes it will go from zero up to 40, 0 at idle and 40 when i get on the gas

I just had a similar issue with an 01 JGC, there is a seal in the oil pressure sending unit that was leaking oil into the wire connectors, it was making it drop to 0 at an idle and right at 40 going down the hwy, I would pull the wiring harness off the oil pressure sender and check it to see if there is any oil in the connection, mine was full... about a 38 dollar fix.
