I believe you're right. Purolator oil filters have the thread size imprinted on the filter base. I was thinking 3/4-10, but due to the thin metal on the base, fine thread would be better.

I used to run Mopar filters, but now I'm using Purolater ONE PL14670. It looks about the best from several videos I've watched where they've cut various ones apart. It's got metal end separators and an actual overpressure bypass valve.
I think unless it's foreign or a peanut sized can, they're all 3/4-16 and the gaskets are the same size. I know at Valvoline we had problems when someone put a small GM filter on a VW and it blew off!

Baldwin B2-HPG and Fleetguard LF3487 are quite possibly the best available but pricey.
The baldwin filters down to ~8 microns IIRC so would be only advisable if you are using 5w30 I think (5w40 might be too restrictive)
Wix 1515 or Napa Gold 51515 are my personal choice. Oil capacity increases by about 0.5 quarts
EDIT:
I run 6k mile oil change intervals but I know I could run more (Shell T6 5w40 Synthetic).
