So i'm going to replace the o-rings on my 99 xj this afternoon. From seeing various threads I feel fairly educated on how the job goes. However, I am curious if it is recommended to put red loctite back on the bolt before I reinstall the filter adapter?
Thanks

For future reference, when red Loctite (272, 263) is used on clean threaded assemblies it will be very difficult to get apart in the future. It requires that you heat it up above 550 degrees F to break the bond. Without using heat there is a good chance that the bolt will break first. Blue Loctite (243, 248) is a better choice where a thread locker is desired in most automotive applications. Hand tools will get it apart and you don't have the issue of you or the next guy not realizing red Loctite was used before the bolt has been damaged. Blue is sometimes called for on brake caliper and suspension bolts.
