All OEM related XJ specific tech. Examples, no start, general maintenance or anything that's stock.
2001 XJ,, just finished the engine rebuild and putting it all back together.
The rad is looking a little ragged, and unsure if it is original or not.
According to the mopar 2001 XJ parts book, there were 5 radiators for the left hand drive XJs
Where the standard duty ("without Heavy Duty Cooling") Alum and plastic? , all Alum? or other?
Where the "Heavy Duty Cooling" Alum and plastic? All ALum? or other?
What the heck is the "Copper Brass Middle East" radiator ??
Is the OEM "Copper Brass" radiator still available ?
I would guess that the middle east radiator was more efficient due to a hotter climate, and probably more expensive so it wasn't used where not required.
Then you're down to standard or heavy duty cooling. The codes DGO and DBB refer to auto or manual transmission whoch would then narrow it down to standard or heavy duty.
Past that I don't know what the differences would be between the 2 types.
I have poked around about this from time to time.
I don't think anybody really knows for sure.
But I did find a guy who said he bought the max cooling one,
Read the first post.
The comment "Don't get wrapped up about it being a 1-core radiator." confuses me a little.
I can't be sure if he is saying it is a 1-core radiator or not.
Cause most people on the internet seem to think the max cooling one is a 2 core so.......
I have a NR2802 from NAPA and a factory stat Mopar 83501426. I live at 5000' elevation in Arizona. Ambient temps range from 0*F to 105*F.
Have AC. Never gets hot. Temp stable. I have heat out the vents at 22*F outside temp within 5 minutes. Not warming up the Jeep at idle.

I also have the Napa NR2802 in my '00. Just shy of 8 years now.
Almost positive it is a rebranded Spectra.
I did have a problem with a leak on it. Turned out the nut holding the lower tranny line fitting in had loosened up.
And anti-freeze was leaking from it. Quick tighten and was good to go.
Unfortunately Napa has changed suppliers and I don't know who makes them now.
As a matter of fact I am under impression that Spectra no longer manufacturers radiators.
Pretty sure I had a lifetime warranty on it but if I did have to defect it would end up getting whatever we sell now to replace it under warranty.
As I am not a fan of "up grading" the functional factory cooling system, I want to stick with Mopar OEM or replacement of OEM design.
I have a new engine, with all new hoses, pump, heater core, etc,, everything is 100% new except the radiator., witch is looking extremely ragged.
So I am looking at:
Honestly,, not sure if the Mopar ones are made by the same factory and standards as they were when made 20 years ago??
Anyone have experiance with the Omix ones??
Do you know if Spectra specs out the standard duty and heavy duty?
While I want to stay with the factory designed cooling system, I will be doing some summer time towing so wanted to go with the Factory spec'd HD radiator.

No sure about that but mine keeps it cool just fine on 95* days with the AC on, both on and off road.
Year: 1998 Classic (I'll get it running soon....) and 02 Grand
Model: Cherokee (XJ)
Engine: 4.0

I'm pretty sure that's still the case. I just replaced a radiator in my family van and it was a Spectra, purchased from NAPA. Said NAPA on the box, but there was a Spectra tag on the radiaotor.
Good enough. Probably what sells under the Mopar label these days.

I have a 91 Laredo (original owner) with factory HD cooling and towing package. When I went to replace the radiator at ~100K miles, I found the Mopar OEM radiator was made by Modine. The thing was the design changed from a copper/brass radiator to plastic and aluminum -- so that's what I bought. I called Modine and talked to an engineer and he explained a lot about 2 core vs. 3 core and the Mopar HD radiator characteristics. If I recall, the Mopar HD radiator has larger tubes and more surface area...
I have 180K miles now and it's been ~20 years, but the Mopar HD radiator has never leaked or overheated.
At the time, I posted a thread about it on NAXJA... I can't recall my user name over there.
Thanks for the info,
I am guessing that by the time 2001 rolled around the Std Duty and Hvy duty where Alum/Plastic,, and the "Middle East" was copper/brass
