Default odd squeal when starting up

well when I start my vehicle and have the blower running-i hear an odd squeal coming from the engine bay. the blower motor was just replaced so any ideas? After I get up and going I don't hear the noise. this only happens after the vehicle sits a while. Now after getting the power steering pumped replaced it hasn't happened but twice-when it is cold out. (but it's that time of year...)

need any other info?

Thanks everyone.

It may be your belt is to loose. When you have the blower running it put a little extra drag on the engine and can cause the belt to slip. It usually stops when the belt heats up. What ever you do . DO NOT use any belt dressing. Just tighten it. They do have to be pretty tight.

Yes. You belt is loose.

When your blower is on the compressor clutch is engaged. That makes it squeal.

Tighten the **** out of the belt.

The serpentine belt. Here's a good write up with pics. Easy DIY. You may have to remove your electric fan to make it easier to get to the two bolts.

It could be the idler pulley. Atleast mine would squeal at times. Then the bearings popped out and it would clank.. so I replaced it and now it's all better!

I agree that the serpentine belt is the primary suspect here, but it also could be any component along the serpentine route.

Inspect belt for excessive cracking/glazing. Replace it with a Goodyear Gatorback if there is ANY question. And yes, they have to be darn tight to stay quiet!
