my check engine light has been on ever since i finished the cage. I towed it home today and stopped off at 2 different auto parts stores to have them read the codes. The first place (autozone) said it had a NSS code. Thats strange because the NSS doesn't seem to be bad.
the second place (advanced auto) said it was "manufacturers transmission control".
Is that saying my transmission computer is going bad? The only issue, other than the light being on is that every once in a while if you are just a little above idle, it sputters pretty bad. If you let off the gas its fine and if you stomp it past that spot its fine. It only does it sometimes.
Any ideas?????

auto zone gave me a print out and it looks like the code is P1899, or maybe just 1899.
advanced auto never told me a code number, thier scan tool just said manufacturers transmission control on the screen.

The NSS will set a DTC in an OBDII system because the NSS reads shifter-position. There are more positions on the NSS other than "Park/Neutral" for starting and "reverse" for reverse-lights. The trans control wants to know shifter-position so it can control overdrive and torque-converter lockup.
The NSS code is typically a "rationality"-based code, ie... if the trans controller "sees" the shifter in neutral, but you are travelling 60mph.
Have you disassembled and cleaned the NSS?
Is it adjusted properly?
