yep, mine have been the same. If you try and shift into 4-lo it grinds, even when you are stopped, unless you put the transmission into N.

Lol, Windows 8 is a disaster for traditional desktop/laptops. Put Win7 on there. Or at least download Classic Shell.

Anywho, your linkage may be out of whack and need adjusted. Might be worth a look.

I don't know about that grinding. Mine won't let me shift into 4-lo without being in N. I thought this was a normal lockout. I just slow to 1-2 mph, put in N, shift into 4-lo, back in drive and go. Otherwise all seems normal.

Side antidote:
No real need to 4-fulltime for me but after slick rock there's a long smooth dirt road and everybody likes to drive it at 50+ mph like some kind of insane rally race. Normally in 2wd but I like to use 4-fulltime just for the fun of it.

Neutral is best for shifting into 4L. Best to get into 4wd first, like full or part time, then go to L.
