Default NOOB here....breaking things

so as i was driving my recently bought 89 xj home last night the serpentine belt went out (luckily only 15 miles from my house vs. the 200 miles away i bought it at). after an hour or so i figured out how to adjust it to put the new one on however when i was adjusting the belt, the tensioning bracket under the power steering pump snapped
guess thats what i get for strong arming a 25 year old bolt but the belt just never seemed tight enough.

anyways, is it possible to replace the tensioning bracket without replacing the entire power steering pump? if so does anyone know the part number or where to buy this part?

is it something i could just yank off a power steering pump at a junkyard?

I have that bracket for sale...and a power steering pump . You can replace with the same pump.

Oh, but in another thread you claimed a new CPS was $200 from a dealer......

So now you don't know?

Neighbor said they are around $80 at the dealer.
I was trying to make a point to try to save the guy in the thread some money by pulling one from a junker. It's backfiring on me though.

Ya know, the truth carries much more weight and credence than exaggerating.

How about this?

time to fix that, return my shredded belt, put a new belt on and then begin the search for my coolant leak....woooo

Thanks for the help cruiser!

Glad it helped.

did one better, went and got a haynes manual lol only ever used chilton so im not sure how it will stack up yet but figured since this things hasnt been driven much in a long time im going to be replacing pretty much every little odds and ends in the engine bay so a manual is required to save me time in internet/forum searches

your threads are very helpful as well! great place to start for anyone with an older jeep!
