Alright - a post with a few updates!
I've been cleaning the valve cover and it's now shiny as it was when it was new! Doesn't add any horsepower that i've noticed but looks a lot cleaner!
A new airfilter, plugs was all I managed to get together at this point but it's having problem starting again.
I don't have a movie of it yet but it sounds like this "ratatatatatatat" and doesn't crank the engine. I've tried a battery booster and it makes it start right up. I've also measured the battery with a multimeter and it shows steady 12V+ (around 12.5).
What could cause this issue?
Also, the airfilter box got disconnected with all the little tubes came loose. Is there any diagram for which tube goes where?

Any idea about the tubes for the airbox to the engine etc? I guess they'd make quite a mess if they're not connected correctly

A new battery did the trick! The jeep is now running, although at about 500 rpm's idle when warm which isn't all that great I guess - doesn't sound like the engine is running stable though.
I need to crank the engine and push the gas pedal a bit to get it running - normal?
And what's next to correct with the unstable idle?

Done number #1 - 2
Doing number #3 - 4 today
#5 will have to be done later probably.
And, as I've asked before; the tubes from the airbox etc, is there a diagram for it? Mine got disconnected and i'm not sure they got put back correctly.

Cleaned the IAC, tried to remove a few ground points but the one connected to the engine block (behind the dipstick) was really tough to get off so it's going to have to wait for another day.
Listened closely to the engine idle now and it sounds like something is loose around in the engine, it's a very low sound but becomes a lot clearer as it idles higher (around 750rpm) and I haven't noticed it before.
Last i checked metal sounds in the engine while running is bad bad bad.....

The dipstick tube stud is the most critical one.

Any idea on the idle?

It's a stud, not a bolt. Hold the stud still and remove the nut from it. Get the grounds all done and everything else you haven't done before addressing the idle, as the grounds can affect the idle.

Alright - cleaned all the grounds (the ones i saw and could find after some searching) used some fine grit sandpaper on both the terminals and the "metal" and changed some of the terminals and cables that were basically loose.
Also cleaned up my IACV aswell as most of the electrical connectors in the engine bay with some elec. cleaner.
Also, the vaccum lines were all wrong, the EGR vacum line was connected to the air box etc....it was chaos...so I bought some new vac. lines and redid everything according to the chart that cruiser gave me and well, I don't know what did it but it idles a lot more stable now...around 500 rpm's but no dips like before...!
It still needs a bit of throttle to get going though...could it be the CPS? It just cranks and doesn't fire when holding down the key.
