Glad you resolved it! Just curious, sine I am dropping my tank this weekend...what size are those two bolts for the straps? 9/16? I want to make sure I have a ratcheting wrench for it. LOL

LOL! Use a size 14. That's what I used. Make sure to have the tool to separate the fuel lines.

Gotcha. Yep I have the quick disco tools, got em when I blew a freeze plug and had to remove the manifolds.

As promised, here's my follow-up. Partially, anyhow. I had the tank out and the new fuel pump on in about an hour and a half. Easy. I'll be putting the tank back in tonight as I had to wait for Chassis Saver to dry as I coated the whole underside above the tank with it. Hopefully my gauge will be fixed! Also, I did *not* need any quick disconnect tools for the fuel lines (even though I had them). All I had to do was pinch the clips and they popped out.

I was shocked at how the original filter was 1.) so incredibly dirty and brown and 2.) much smaller than the replacement. Was this your experience as well, OP?

Also installed the new vapor line with hose.

Good idea on that roll over valve vent line.

Oh is that what it's called? lol, I had not much other option since the original metal line rusted away and crumbled when I went to remove it.

Common fault. And it causes a CEL to trip when a pin hole finally pops through the rust.

I replaced my rusted line with a hose like that some years ago (with the tank still installed) and its still good to go.

That's funny, because I drove my XJ around for a while without that line connected at all, and never once got a CEL.

. Did you need any "special tool" as highlighted in the FSM to remove and reinstall?

Nope, none at all. It's just two little plastic clips you pinch together with your fingers and it pops out.
