Yes. It could also go into my 87, but yours is a low pinion, mine is a high pinion. If you ate looking for a replacement, try to find a HP D30 non disco.

Yes it will be an upgrade especially if you are lifted or plan to wheel it.

Next question:
i know its un bolt and re bolt but sinces its HP will all my steering and track bar and such still work and will all it will need is an alignment right?

It's a direct bolt-in and yes you should get it aligned or align it yourself. Lot's of write-ups on the Interwebz about it.

you could even align it yourself it takes all of 5 minutes to do with a tape measure and a wrech. plus idk the alignment prices by you for a 4x4 but around here its 85 bucks plus 30 extra for larger tires

once you get it all bolted up. the tie rod that goes to drivers side knuckle and connects to the drag link. loosen up those clamps and take some channel locks or a pipe wrench and start turning it to adjust the front of the tires moving in or out. if i remember correctly for the 231 tcase you want the front to be 1/8in closer then the rear and for the 242 1/16in closer then the rear. someone correct me if im wrong on that.i just did mine to 1/16in for my 242 and it drives straight for miles(not kidding on this) and tire wears evenly

That's fine....

But posting incorrect info (even minor like this) doesn't really help anyone.
