Just picked up a 92 XJ Laredo 4.0l H.O for $200. Picked it up knowing head gasket was gone. Pulled the head and you could see #3 cylinder was clean and that is obviously where the coolant was going. Its $50 to check the head for cracks. Or I can get a reman head for $300. I did not particularly see anything wrong with the head gasket. So kinda worried about a crack in the head and a little leery of tryin to put any money in this head. What would you guys do? would you send the head out and have it cleaned and checked for cracks? Or would you just pop for the reman head?

If you can check to see if this is all worth it for 50 bucks then I'd say go for it.

yea it has 146,000 on it and the the body/interior is in great shape for what i paid. I was just thinking that it is gonna need new stems seals, possibly a guide or 2 and maybe some seats depending on how pitted up they are. Just trying to do it right while being on a budget.
