Alright so here it is i bought a 2000 xj in vermont about a month an a half ago with 138k. A week after bringing it home it started overheating about a mile away from my house so i immediately pulled over.. i waited awhile for it to cool down then drove it home..I put a new thermostat in it an that didn't do it so i pulled the water pump an the impellers were broken off. so there was my problem. after another week i was at a stop light an my oil pressure dropped to zero an the check gauges light came on. i found out that whenever i started it in the morning the oil pressure was at 40psi at cold idle the would slowly drop to 0 as it warmed up. no signs of a bad head gasket an no oil leaks. i did some research on it. then i went a bought 10w-30,new filter, and a oil pressure sender unit. before putting in the new sender unit i tried to clear behind the old one on the oil galley to remove any sludge build up. after all that instead of the oil pressure dropping to 0 it dropped to 10 at hot idle. so i dropped the oil pan to see if the oil pickup was clogged an it wasn't but as i looked in the bottom of the pan there it was....milky oil. now what do i do? i have a friend who will help me with the head gasket but since i have to notorious #0331 head im afraid of pulling off the head an seeing it either warped or cracked. i am on a budget what would you do?
i am new on here so take it easy on me

Personally, I wouldn't jump to any conclusions yet. What I would do is to send an oil sample to a lab. For less than $20, they can tell you if there's coolant in the oil.

Sorry! But, It sounds like you got ripped off when you bought it. That is if they didn't tell you that they over heated it. If I were you I would listen Firestorm advice.

^^^ that's what I would do. But keep in mind you may run into a cracked or warped head... If you have the money I would take the head to a machine shop and have them inspect it.

This. The oil pump blowing up would be a hell of a coincidence. Normally pressure loss like that is coolant eating bearings and it got in via a cracked head. If you want to keep driving it, you might be able to find a new one and bolt it on. Earlier models will fit, you just have to sort out how to secure the coil rail.

Its your money. But if you do what you seem to be determined to do, then your ultimate loss is going to be astronomical.
Your first loss is the cheapest. Ask me how I know all this sometime.
It's too late now, but at the first sign of trouble you should have consulted an experienced mechanic at a Jeep dealership, or jumped on the web and started searching. Truth be told, you should have done that before even buying this turkey.
Your combination of year model and engine is notorious for doing this.
