Just bought an 89 XJ pioneer. there are no ID tags on the diffs like my 2000 has. i know its not an 8.25. i thought they only put the 44 in from 87-88 but found out tonight that they did this from 87-90. does anyone know where i can find a pic of a 44 to look at. Also, is there a site where you can punch in the VIN# and have the list of options that came with the vehicle?
Thanks in advance.

Yeah, I remember what Michigan Winters did to cars...
Looks just like mine. It's more oval than the Chrysler 8.25, not to mention mine actually says "Dana" on it.
Seriously? Mine didn't. I got screwed!
