Default My xj needs a Dr. ...

So as of recently My xj has been giving me a decent amount of troubles. My check engine light has been on for quite a bit for my 02 sensor. Just recently, a couple weeks maybe, my jeep has started to act as if I am running out of gas (loss if power and starting to sputter) even when I have a full tank. So i went and bought two new 02 sensors, in hopes that my troubles would be over, but they're not. It seems like it runs better now that i have replaced those 02's but it still will get a loss of power and sputter, occasionally, not all of the time. When it doesn't do this it runs amazing. So i went down to my trusty mechanic today, my jeep is still reading a code (P0183) a short to my 02 ground. I also have a blown fuse in my engine bay fuse box(F23), upon putting a new fuse in, it blows right away. My mechanic couldn't find anything on this F23 fuse either. We were both possibly thinking I should replace my Crankshaft Position Sensor? And trace where this blown fuse is going. But, when in doubt go to Cherokee Forum. Any similar problems? Or possible solutions? I need help on this one

As for the fuse blowing as soon as you put it in, means you have a short some where. I'm not sure what fuse 23 runs but you will have to find what it goes to and trace it to the short. My son has my 98 so I can't run out there to check what it is. Sorry! Good luck on the hunt for the short. I hate hunting them down.

A late update but, I took my after market stereo out and then replaced the fuse, it stopped blowing, and my misfire stopped. Gonna go ahead with a full tune up though. Now that I'm posting about it being fixed it'll probably come back. Lol.

Do you have an FSM? See if the radio is wired in to anything else. I had an issue like this on my old car. Fuse kept blowing and I'd lose my headlights. Turns out the headlights were wired through the radio so when the radio shorted out it blew the headlights fuse too.
