It is high priority to take precaution NOT to disturb the sludge build up and create debris.
BTW I have a whole bottle of seafoam in my cabinet at work.. Why would I want to use that **** when there's a product to out perform it in anything someone would want to use it for. Seafoam is for the D.I.Y.er Shadetree guys

& yes its that good. Maybe you havent hard about this being that its fairly new, about 2 years. Or thats its only handled through a VW/Audi Dealer. Guess you also wasn't aware the GM top engine cleaner is hands down one or the best products for cleaning throttles, intakes mani's, and intake valves of carbon build up. Of course not, you have a shelf for of seafoam

Just a thought, Jeepsurfer; have you checked your oil pressure with a mechanical gauge? Our Oil Pressure Sending Units aren't the most reliable or consistent.
I hope you're able to save your engine. I get my blood pressure up when my Jeep gets into the 3500 kilometer mark! *L* I can't imagine what your Jeep's P.O. did to get a 4.0 that caked with goo...

I know my way is right and works just fine, always has. Thats all I need to know. If he wants to go and get ripped off for some stealership junk, more power to him. Since jeeps are apparently a second class simple vehicle, ill keep using my second class simple sea foam....

It's nothing new, really. Back in the '70's when I worked for Ford, that picture of yours could've been any of the 302's with double sump oil pans.
Nobody ever removed the rear drain plug, leaving a quart or two of filthy oil that never got drained. Combined with the sucky oil of the 70's, 70-80K miles later they were plugged up solid.
Anyway...we fixed them with a process similar to what VW is using now. An enormous external oil filter and a couple quarts of transmission fluid with a few pints of kerosene added. Idle the engine until the external filter plugs, change it and keep going until all the crap is out.
The tranny fluid + kerosene isn't a good idea anymore, perhaps BG has come up with something more bearing-friendly.
Manufacturers are generally not in the habit of approving treatments that trash engines under warranty, so I'd assume it is at least safe. Whether or not it works.... I have no idea.
OTOH thorough mechanical removal with a shop vac followed by some gentle flushing with a high-detergent oil always works, given enough time.
