Im buying an 89 cherokee with the v6 and an auto in it, and I already own a wrecked 89 with a 4.0 and a 5 speed I wanna swap them into the new jeep, how hard is that gonna be? Am I gonna have to swap wiring harnesses or anything? Or is it basically plug and play?

 

Plug and play. Use the harness from the vehicle you're keeping. FWIW, the 4.0 is an L6, not a V6.

 

I know its an l6 the one im buying has a v6 and im putting in an l6, it has an auto and im putting in a manual

Something's not right here. I didn't think the V6 and I6 were both available in the same year, so I checked both NAPA and Rock Auto sites. They both show the 4.0 I6 as the only 6 cyl available in '89.

 

First off, 89 never came with a V-6. Last year for that crap was 86. Something is not right here. Hence, the answers you're getting could be wrong because your info is wrong.

 

Well thank you for letting me know that, im going off what they have told me, ive never bought one or done anything with the v6 cause I know there a garbage oversized paper weight, I wasnt doubting your info or advice I just dont wanna buy it and find out it was a mistake, im trying to find out from them now if there sure its not the l6, thanks again
