My '94 cherokee has an inline 6 4.0 and I think its getting too hot, but im not sure. Its running at around 210 plus without a/c in this bullcrap 100 degree weather and when i turn the ac on it gets up to like 230. Also when the motor has been running that hot and i shut it off then start it back up sometime later it starts to shake the motor bad so kinda like a rough idle i guess you could say. My water pump just got replaced last night (boy that was fun) and I thought it would stop those problems but it didnt haha
Is this just normal or should i fix it if its too hot? If so where do i start now.

There is a plug to drain the radiator behind the front right headlight housing, when I cleaned mine out I just ran a bunch of distiller water through it, and it doesn't hurt to just get a new t stat, I think a new one is like 5 bucks and it takes 10 minutes to install

Get a new T-stat pronto. I recommend a 195 degree stat purchased directly from a Jeep dealer for the best reliability and temperature control. Set you back about $8.00. There are PLENTY of crap stats out there. I have by far had the best luck with an authentic MOPAR stat.
Be sure ALL other parts of the cooling system are good. They work in concert. Flushing may or may NOT restore flow to a radiator; radiators are about $100 to $200. Replace it if it's old, rather than flushing it. And replace the radiator cap too. 16 pound cap with no release lever.
There is no better money spent than that spent on cooling system maintenance. Do it.
