Moaning as in whining? Especially when near full lock?
Could be power steering pump. Check fluid level.

Is it because you're stuck in mud?

Does it do this reliably in both directions, regardless of speed? Does it come-and-go or constant as soon as you turn the wheel? Can you hear it outside the Jeep?

Yes both directions, I only here it a low speeds ( that's not to say it isn't happening all the time ) as far as inside/outside IDK cause I'm in the truck driving when I hear it

If it was cause I'm stuck in the mud, I'd be pulled free by now and just so y'all know. I don't REALY do much mudden' these days cause it just so hard on parts. But getting stuck and UN-sticking folks is my favorite part of wheelin'

My '98 does the EXACT same thing. It's terrible, and embarrasing if you have a passenger, lol. One of the reasons I keep WD40 in my glovebox. If you poke your head up under there, you'll see a little U-joint and then a rubberish part towards the firewall. Just spray WD40 all over that b1tch and be done with it for a while. This also only happens to me in the winter. I suspect there's some rubber O-ring or seal of some kind at that spot that shrinks in the cold

Ok this is a bit off, but does PB blaster and wd40 work the same? Even tho I know PB is supposed to be better than wd40 for rusty stuff. Guess the question is PB a better lube as well over the wd?

Well, not for rubber it isnt. Use some silicone spray for that. Doesnt eat the rubber away, like blasters/penetrants and WD 40's do...

I'd actually be happy for this particular rubber spot to be eaten away so this stupid sound wouldn't happen anymore.

In regards to PB vs. WD, PB is a penetrating oil designed to help break free rusty bolts and such. WD40 is just a lubricating oil.

Thanks for the info.

BTW my username. In a town here in Colorado called kremling ( Kreme-tuck as we like to call it ) there's a mud bog challenge every year on fathers day. Well I've " attempted " it multiple times and always got stuck, so....... It's hard to compete agaist guys running 60" + tires and all. But it's just for the fun of it. Haven't been out the sence 04'
Plus I'm not the type to have a name like " coolest jeeper in the world " hehehe
