About the onpy thing I use WD-40 for is to spray on my bait when I go fishing. WD does stand for "water displacement." It's made out of some kind of fish oil (at least it used to be) and works great on fish bait but it really attracts dirt and is not a penetrating oil.

Very illegal JSYK plus if you catch and release it's ( the wd-40 ) will leave the fish with horriblely cracked lips. Yes very affective ( even one of the top selling flies is called a wd for the reason ) but if fish and game or D.O.W. comes up on you with wd-40 in your tackle box, your ****ed !!!!

My winter rubber seal squeals, not moans. Completely disappears once the cab has heated up.

Check that out and report back. Otherwise you're going to have to investigate under the hood or under the XJ. The steering shaft has a U joint that fan go out, or a TRE may be greaseless.

I've got a piece of biz-queen ( or whatever they call it now days ) it's pretty sweet for sliding around under the jeep. It like a turbo creeper. Just think of sliding down the hill on a sheet of plastic, that's what its like minus the hill part. And of course warm clothing
