Yes. Is that front or back? If front, your engine will be sucking in unfiltered air. If back, you can end up with oil spraying everywhere under the hood and have a vacuum leak. Both will probably fail emissions.
BTW this is called a CCV system on the 4.0L. Same sort of idea but different in execution than a PCV system.

I don't think having that missing will impair function but you WILL be sucking unfiltered air into the engine. Not as much as if you ripped the filter off, but still a bit. I'd feel comfortable driving it to the parts store to get what I need to fix it, but that's about it. If you're going to do that you should put some paper towel over that to avoid contaminating the crankcase with sand, dust, etc.
